Changing D.O.T. 4 every 2 years
Do it.
If you aren't a believer, you should see what I just bled out of my rear brakes after 3 1/2 years. Looked like I'd lanced a boil.

Did you flush the old fluid, Dave, and with what? I just bled/added new fluid until it looked like new fluid was all that was coming out...

Same here.
Speed Bleeder install at the same time, so it's easy next time.

Speed Bleeders here...
I changed mine before CO last year... wonder if I should change again before ES... we will be hitting Telluride on the way home... Daryl... I pump the old out until the master cylinder is ALMOST empty, then fill with the new and pump until it is ALMOST empty... repeat until new fluid is coming out the bleeder... top off and close it up... go for a ride and let it set overnight... tap the lines with a small wrench or something to dislodge any bubbles... rebuild the motor, then bleed one last time. |

Make sure you order the HD ones or you won't get the rubber dust boot...

Thanks for this, info Dave and Mike. This thread came along none too soon. My rear brake bleeder looks like some doof (me) used channel locks on it. The stupid thing rounded off using a flare nut wrench.

Never done it. I do notice my 07 feels better. Even though I just changed the rear pads on the 01. The pedal and lever have to travel a bit before they get hard.
With the speed bleeder, you don't have to loosen it up? I remember right. Loosen bleeder, put hose on into fluid. I bought mightvac pump recently, thinking this will work???? |

Speedbleeder has a check valve, so you don't have to tighten it before you let off the pedal. Makes it a one person job. Bleed 'em, then tighten it up and you're good to go.

I thought with a hose in brake fluid you wouldn't have to tigthen between pumps? What about with pump? I bought it and haven't used it.
Looked it up 01 uses Dot 5 07 uses dot 4 One person on the speedbleeder website was saying how that he changed frm 4 to 5 he was never cahnging againt. Whats th ebig difference? I have heard the dot 4 eats paint. |
