Baggers, Turbos and .........

Thinking about one of these for the bagger, mild cam, mild head work with a low compression 95 upgrade.

Anybody have any experience with Trask?

I think this may be a better route then building up a motor that is stressed all of the time due to mods.

Any suggestions?

i dont know brother i think if you build it right yiull have no problems .but with that blower id think youd have nothing but problems

I was looking over some baggers out in Laughlin a few years ago that had turbo's on them. They said they were really mild and didn't have any problems. But who knows, could have been embellishing somewhat.

other than the normal lag you get with a turbo there is really no other drawback to making power with one. A mild build with modest boost will give you a reliable street machine. Getting the plumbing to fit can be a handful sometimes but turbos work

My buddy had a turbo setup from a now defunct company called Aerocharger. Bike in basically stock form w/ turbo made 120 hp. Looked good too. The Trask units aren't low profile (sleeper)...they got a ton of plumbing hangin' out there. Josh from Doherty Machine told me he has one and it's damn fast.

I think I will hunt down some turbo owners and talk with them. I did not consider the heat issue with all of the additional plumbing. It may be possible to thermocoat the plumbing but then the extra heat directed to the turbine may not be healthy for its longevity. I need to start investigating.

When I was working for a bike shop here in SD, a guy had one on his bike. I suppose when it ran right, it was great.

Spent a lot of time fixing it though...

I don't think heat will hurt the turbine wheel. Heat is the basic
principle behind a turbo charger. As it is said in this business (dzlfittin')
heat makes power.......to a point. Just do your homework, and
research it.

Turbos are an intersting possibility to say the least.
Lots of power can be made. You can keep things mild and not overly
stress the stock engine.
Remember, the stock cast piston doesn't like spark knock so you don't
want too much boost.
Looks like any system will be plenty complicated. You can find systems
that are carbed and some are FI. I would think the FI would work better
(does in autos) but takes more to get it set up.
If you like to tinker, it may be the way to go. I was interested but
the $$ were too much for me. Wish I'd tried it back when I was single.

You have to really hunt around to find much info. that tells you much.
