Thanks to Tenaska...
who built a Natural Gas Power Plant, about 6 miles away, just off I-70, we're getting City Water...
They ran a 24" water line, about 15 miles long, from Connellsville(Youghiogheny River) to the Plant, and it just happened to come down my road... they use about 9 million gallons a day, so ill have fresh water... We've actually been waiting for around 7 or 8 months to tap in, because the Water Co. is not allowed to tap plastic pipe when its under pressure, even though it has 2" wall thickness... The Plant is down for 2 weeks of maintenance, so they tapped ours last week...meter coming tmro... i dug and ran my 3/4 copper line myself, and plumbed the regulator/check valve, etc. in the basement... couldn't see paying the exorbitant fees that some other people on the road payed a plumber...I could have made some $$ doing them...and I offered to dig the 4' deep ditches, about 100'+ long on average for free, but I really didn't want to do their pipe work. I only dug one other...Plumbing is easy...its not Rocket Surgery, but I guess some people don't like to get their hands dirty...

Damn Dave, believe it cost my parents more 60 years ago than you've got into your tap-in.

wouldn't PEX have been easier than copper?

not really...you still have to use 10' of copper at the curb box, and 10' at your house, so you have two extra connections underground...
the reason for copper is...they want flared connections at curb shutoff valve & the shutoff valve where it enters your basement wall.
