Quick help...on adjusting primary chain
So, I'm outside right now adjusting the primary chain...it was just outside of the 5/8-7/8" play, so I needed to adjust it. I loosen the bolt on the assemby, and raise it up, check play again, and it was close but not quite there....
I try to adjust again, but i needed to loosen the bolt a touch more... that's when it drops all the way down...and it doesn't wanna budge...any recommendations? |

How many times has it been adjusted? I don't know much about TCs, but pans and shovels used to stretch and need to be replaced. I am sure that they are much stronger now, but...........
Just throwing it out there.

Sounds like its just wedged a little ... there are teeth on the back of it and it keeps it from moving. just try loosening a half a turn at a time until is comes unwedged. and jiggle it like my boobies...

Sounds like it just got stuck in the bottom. Try tilting it and wiggling. If thats what your talking about. It jsut sits on teeth.
I hope you got this, cause if that is all it is, we are going to have to start calling you girly hands. But ya it goes get stuck down there. Sometime will dive you nuts trying to get it just right. Sometimes I will put a mark. Cause often, I try moving little and goes alot. |

Too freaking cold outside. Chains have a tight spot and you want to adjust it at it's tightest spot. If you have it stuck, rock the bike or wheel back and forth in gear and the chain should become free. |

I've had it wedge at the bottom too. Loosen it until you can get back to adjustment. If you are a "little" on the loose side when cold it'll tighten up a bit when the engine warms up to operating temps.

That was the problem...stuck on it's own teeth. I took a set of channel locks, grabbed a hold of it, and it raised right up. Thanks all. |

Glad you got it fixed. I was just about to give you a suggestion. Neither one of us wants me to start suggesting things.

I take the primary cover off instead of trying to do the adjustment through the teeny little inpection opening. Makes it a hell of a lot easier. Good excuse to change the primary oil too. I have an idea for a better adjusting assembly, but I need someone to machine it.
