I did the deed

Pictures with captions <-here-> (click the hide or show captions link)

Story and excuses will be available tomorrow when I can hear and see again. My ears are still roaring and my eyes are so bleary that I can hardly see.

Edit: You will need to stop the slide show and have the option hide the caption showing --- never used this Picasa before.

Who was the masked man in the picture?

How do we know it was you?

Were you so ashamed to be a Doof you had to hide your face?

Does a ride count when the rider can not be identified?

So many questions with regard to this ride I just can not see a positive vote from the group.

You may have to do it again.

You don't know how close you are to being right.

I got home and plugged the camera into my PC and then thought of something else and pulled the USB cord out without going through the safely unplug this device routine...

You know that feeling that comes while sitting on the throne and a sudden splash of cold water has all your attention and your mind starts racing? Well it was sort of like that when my PC locked up and the screen went blue then a pop up message came up saying that stuff was being erased!

I had that moment of clarity that I really DooF'd up and all of my picture proof was being deleted and I would have to do the ride again.

But <-THIS-> proof positive survived.

Thanks all

Now,,, here's my story.

The weatherman said it was going to be the start of a warming trend and no precipitation was in sight ---yeah right maybe in the TV studio it would be warmer.

With pending things in the future for me, this may be the only chance to make a "43 Ride" for a long time so I decided to go for it.

The neighbor saw me warming the bike up while it was 36 degrees out. He gave me a look and sadly shook his head. Well it looked like he was sad.

I was looking for a sign,,,,,,,, any sign that would tell me that destiny only waits for the really smart guys and I was determined to "DooF the Day!"

The first sign I noticed that I chose the right path was a 35 MPH speed limit sign and I was doing 51 mph!
The second sign appeared on the temperature sign at the bank which read 38 degrees. 51-38=13

Heading west out of town I had brief moments of doubt. and started to wonder I was doing. It was cold, I had a long -long ride ahead of me and I was ready to.

But then I remembered that big boned gal in that redneck beer pulling contest and how dog-gone determined she was. She would pick one foot up at a time and place it down in front of the other one --- she just kept plodding on ! and that motivated me. Sure it was cold, but I knew that my sponsor the immortal GrayRider if he wasn't passed out already in Florida and knew what I was faced with, he would raise a drink in my general direction and send courageous thoughts my way.

The miles started to roll past and suddenly noticed that the out of gas light was blinking with 14 miles still left to the next town and I was thinking that if I ran out of gas at least it would be warmer pushing the bike than it was riding....

Well to make a long story short I got gas and was able to reach my destination.

After the dribbling and post marking was done and it was time to saddle up for the ride home the thought occurred to me that I now knew my "true" moniker.

"Plods on!" Yes in bold font with added emphasis like yelling "Geronimo" when jumping out of plane, I kept plodding on just like that big boned redneck beer pulling gal and reached my destination ---- and now I had to ride all the way home in the cold.......

I promised myself that I would not grovel or beg when voted on in the Clubhouse but then I realized that groveling does not have the merit that begging does so I decided to forgo the groveling and just beg and plead.

You rock 8Balls

The way you fixed the 43 hand sign was brilliant!

I spent about 10 minutes trying to hold the camera under my chin / in my mouth and click the picture using my tongue / or a stick off the ground held between my teeth but gave up. :5doh:
