80 mph vibes on too-thousan'-an-six ultra.

So after my 25000 mile service, front and rear tire being changed, all 4 brackets in my fairing being changed out. My old Ultra vibrates at 80 miles an hour. So I went 80 mph in 4th gear and didn't vibrate nearly as bad. So it's not the front tire balance. Its something rpm related which means engine crap. Stubbs harley davidson here in Houston said this is normal for a Harley over 25,000 miles. Gold Wings are really looking nice this time of year.

Could it be the rubber doughnuts for the rear wheel swingarm? Those things really contribute to poor handling on the old style frame.

Maybe they should just tell their customers after 25 thousand its time to crush it and buy a black or red H0NDA F6B.

Forgot to mentioned they changed the front motor mount. Heard it being so stiff can cause vibes. Hope it breaks in and things go back to normal. I did over 100 mph on a doof ride at the Atlanta Motor Speedway some years back. For 26 laps. No issues then. WTF??

Loosen up the bolts that hold the front mount to frame and ride it around the block. Tighten back down and see how it goes. Also check to see if there is static strain on the mount. Want to avoid that--shim/trim as needed.

Don't be tempted by glide pro. I am not at all pleased w/ their well-made, but ineffective products.

Yeah, I'll say check the front motor mount as well. New upgraded ones are stiffer than the originals.

That's not been my experience.

But I've only owned three that went well past that mileage and have never received the official HD customer service training.

Check the motor mount cross bar struts for pressure. With the bike held level and upright (On a jack but with the weight on the tires) check the adjustable cross bars on the mounts, you should be able to remove one of the bolt and put it back in with no pressure in or out, if there is, you need to adjust then.

That new motor mount is garbage. I put one in 50k ago and it shook so bad I pulled it. I put the glide pro in it, smooth as glass. Also check your exhaust make sure its nit hitting somewhere under load. Could also be swingarm but I doubt it. I bet it that concrete mount in the front/

2014 wings will be released next month, rumor is 2000 cc, 6 speed.....

I've got a glide pro front torqued to their specs that's fine. The swingarm bushings took care of my vibration problem, but it was at 1800-2200 RPM. It was nasty, though. Orbit can attest to that.

GP front mount on mine is like a paint shaker at idle. Only laziness has kept the almost new stock mount sitting on a shelf for so long.

Swing arm bushings. Aren`t these checked at 25k by the dealer. Perhaps I`m putting too much stock in the dealer mainteance. Not that riding on two wheels is life threatening or anything. Always had worked performed by the dealer. Realky not feeling the kive now. As I`ve moved from state to state, dealers are definitely different.
