what is the equivalent headlight bulb...
at autozone etc. for replacing the factory head lamp? i'm sure this has been covered before, i'm just too lazy to search out the answer. i'm tired of replacing my friggin headlight a couple of times a year with the cheaply made ($12+) HD bulbs. i noticed last night that the low beam was out before going for a short ride....so i just wanna get this fixed, and for less that what the damn dealer will charge for a stupid bulb...

A good alternative to the stock bulb is the "Xenon BriteLite" from the NAPA parts store for a headlight that is much brighter than stock. NAPA will probably have to order it for you (part number BP1260/H4BL), but it is a direct replacement for the stock H-4 bulb. About $12 though.........

I've tried silverstars, and the Xenon Britelite, both bulbs, the highbeams went out after just a few months. I'm back to just running a standard Sylvania H-4. Got the Sylvania 9003LL, I believe the LL stands for Long Life, we shall see.

You can get a bp1260/h4 55w/60w or a bp1610 80w/100w or a bp1213 100w/130w all are h4 bulbs and will fit the stock headlamp housing.I run the 1210 and it is plenty bright and last over a year

I have never had to replace a burned out one, but I have been told that you are not supposed to touch the glass part because any oil from your fingers could cause it to fail.
I replaced mine with a much brighter one and have had no problem

the first silverstar I had was for "motorcycle only" said that on the package, dont remember now if it had a S in the part number or not... I do remember it lasted about 6 months.
I'm running the same 9003LL I was in post #3 still, seems to be lasting better than anything else I tried including the stock bulb... probably just jinxed myself though!

I heard somewhere else to get the Silverstar H4ST. supposed to be brighter and tougher and go faster than the others. I guess it is because they say silver and silver looks like chrome?
