Be lazy. Mine melted of on it own. I got some swirls in the chrome. Don't rememeb them being there. But I haven't tried getting them off yet.

But after my lst trip, it was gone. Ugly ass black mess. Burned off.

Ditto that. I've used iron cleaner from Wal-Mart for years to get junk off of my pipes. Haven't seen anything that it wouldn't work on yet.

Before I found out about it, I used to use Easy-Off oven cleaner with pretty good results but I was always worried about getting it on a painted area by mistake when applying it.

I swear by Easy-Off. I've tried a number of things but it's the best. Put a piece of cardboard between the pipes and the motor/tranny, shake can, spray it on and let it sit for an hour or so cold. I never tried it hot. Put something on the floor under too so it doesn't drip onto the driveway or garage floor. Come back an hour or so later and wipe it right off. Never hurt the crome on mine, but I also wax mine.

Ever hear of colonel brassy? Supposedly sold at dealers, for this purpose, so over priced. But I met a guy at gas station, who said it worked great. every now and then I reaffirm my faith in HD. Ened up talking to this guy for about 15 minutes, just two guys on Harleys, who bumped into each other.
