2008 Streetglide Starter Issue
I believe this is a recurring hot start issue. I'm getting tired of it.
When warm, it will grind and not start a couple times. Has backfired and also had smoke come out the air cleaner at the same time on occasion. Word has it a new SE Compensator or All Balls Starter Clutch is the fix? Here's the Youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGztA_ffObI Thoughts??

Early on, my '97 was in the shop about every 6 months for a starter issue. It would be the starter, the basket or the ring gear. The warranty wouldn't fix the actual problem, but just kept changing the affected parts.
We finally bit the bullet and paid the shop the difference in price and installed the Screaming Eagle comp and it has been working fine since then. I'm approaching 100,000 miles on it now. The big issue was the stock comp wasn't designed to sling oil properly.

You need compression releases.
If your SG doesn't have 'em, get 'em installed. When we went high compression in the 'b', the farting through the AC and icky sounding hot starts went away after CRs were installed.
