This forum is of an average vintage where we can discuss this - the new Corvette
When they came out with the C7 I had a full on raging one for it. I hadn't seen a car that elicited such a reaction from my loins since I first discovered the '87 GNX which is why it became one of my dream cars real fast.
When Chevy did their 'world's worst kept secret' slow launch of C8 I was impressed but it didn't just give me that tingly feeling that the C7 did. All the performance videos I see of it it is truly an engineering marvel and fast as shit but the rear end just looks like a Camaro and a Viper had a baby after angry makeup sex. The interior looks cool but seems like you've built a mother-in-law suite for whomever is riding with you. After a good bit of soul searching (and at least 50 people asking if I was going to trade my black Vette in on one) I decided that it just wasn't for me yet and I traded my black Vette in on this one: '17 Z06 in Watkins Glen Gray Metallic. Black leather interior, 8 speed auto (caught a lot of grief about that but it's about .2 seconds faster than the manual), carbon ceramic brakes with 6 piston Brembos, 3LZ trim package. 650hp/650 lb/ft. It is without a doubt the most absurd thing I've ever owned in my life. You can romp on it at 80 mph and bust both back tires (335s) loose for as long as you have your foot in it. So, ye men of a certain vintage, would you do a C8 or a C7 Z06 if you had the chance? Chris (Psychoholic)

Just a bit... I went out to the track outside of Las Vegas where you can drive exotic sports cars and was watching all the burning rubber smoke on the track and was just imagining how much / how often they change those tires. https://exoticsracing.com/

I don't know the difference between a C7 and C8, so I got nothing.

You sir have a rather extreme machine right there. It's top of the heap as far as I'm concerned save for maybe the ZR-1. I would own that in a heartbeat over the C-8, just to let the new car find itself for a year or three.
Although I haven't seen any real hard stats on the various package levels, the division chief was quoted saying the baseline C-8 is the fastest baseline corvette ever released at 194 mph. So if that is baseline, I can only imagine how wicked it will become. Have safe and be fun in the new to you Vette Chris bob

First off, you need to qualify that "certain age" you keep referring to.
If I had the money, my first choice would be a numbers matching, ground up, historically correct restoration of a '62 fuel injected 327 C1. Now, for a substantial amount less, I kind of like the idea of the conversion to a 'McClaren-esq' mid engine.

The Pro reminded me, not your tires, not your brakes. I did my part.
