Friday, January 15th
Walked 1 mile uphill on treadmill That's all I'm doing today. I have to be sociable tonight. 4.25 hours of cardio so far this week. I'll have to get another 45 minutes in sometime before the end of tomorrow in order to reach my weekly goal.

27 minute uphill walk on treadmill Probably it for the day unless I get home early enough from my riding club board meeting tonight. If so, I may try to get a mile run in.

A.M. 30 minutes walk/run intervals on treadmill P.M. 10 minutes elliptical – level 10 Hammer Strength abdominals 30# - 15 x 3 Hanging oblique and straight knee raises – 6 each x 3 Crunches on decline bench – 15 x 3 20 Stairs 2 at a time w/5# dumbbells – 5 x 3 Epic Strength abductor/adductor 60# - 15 each x 3 Calf raises on step – 50x, 40x, 30x Superset: Iso-lateral High Row 92# and Iso-lateral Incline Press 58# - 15 each x 3 Superset: Cable cross-over 30# and Dual pulley row 27.5# - 15 each x 3 28 minutes elliptical – level 5

How'd you like the intervals? They can do wonders for you if you are looking to burn some fat without eating alot of muscle. Check out HIIT, that was my solution for some cardio/fat burning when I was lifting heavy. I couldn't chance losing muscle mass/strength in a run since it would defeat the goals I was working to. I do a modified version of it on occasion now. Usually a minute jog, then a minute sprint. If, at the end of the minute sprint I'm feeling motivated, I'll go for 2 mins........then I usually spend 2 mins to jog and recover.

Doing stuff a little different this year. Lower weights, so I can concentrate more on cardio to lower body fat percentage. Last year, I was in enough pain every week from the heavy weights that it hurt to move, which really decreased my cardio time. I gained a lot of muscle mass, but also packed on a few extra pounds. I need to find a good balance.
Next week, I might start some drop sets. Just need to change up the routine. Thursday, Jan 21 25 minutes elliptical – level 5 Superset: Crunches on decline bench and Knee raises on Roman chair – 15 each x 3 Oblique heel touchers – 15 x 3 Walking lunges - 28 x 3 Hack squats 90# - 15 x 3 Deadlifts 70# - 15 x 3 Superset: Life Fitness shoulder press 60# and Seated bent-over reverse fly w/5# dumbbells – 15 each x 3 Superset: Skull crushers on decline bench 30# and Barbell curls 30# - 15 each x 3 Superset: Life Fitness seated dip 90# and Life Fitness bicep curl 40# - 15 each x 3 20 minutes bicycle – level 8
