Yuk
Here is what a 1/2" magnet wand drug through my oil pan turned up.
Not like I didn't know something was up.

Well, I hope I'm not in the same boat. I just broke open the cam chest to find a flattened roller and a scored cam lobe.
I'll be checking it over as I have nothing but time. I am in the search for a set of cams now. Anyone happen to have a set that would work well in my 88'??? If so, call, message or pm me please. My number is in the ES 14' list. I will be checking runout shortly, for consideration for gear drive cams. Stay tuned BOB

Not at all good. Their was a small piece broken off the roller end area, but I haven't found it. (I'll post pics asap) Likely the reason for my oil pump failure. We just got Criss' shop cleaned up and I'll Clean up and pick through it some more tomorrow. Thanks go out to Ken for his contribution to my cam recovery. I hope to be up soon, as my truck and car are down as well. Lucky to have recently found this Suzuk DR350.
Updates to follow I'm sure. BOB

Spent half a day at my buddy's shop assembling the crank/case today. Parts washer to clean cases, then flush all the ports, rinse, blow dry, rinse again and final blow out. Press out the old main bearings and install the new ones.
Old cases, but all new internals.. S&S 4 3/8 crank; S&S T3 Oil pump/cam plate, Suburban 9cc raised pistons; Still have to bore/hone cylinders, and heads are out to get some work. Thanks Chad, for use of the tools and the space.

What does the inside of the oil pump look like? What is the magnet from the drain plug looking like? I'd pull the crank position sensor and see if there are metal particles stuck on the this as well. It has magnetic properties and mine was covered with metal particles. Hate to say this, but if this condition exists, you may need to go through the bottom end like I did.

I haven't broken down the pump yet. The last oil change just a week ago netted a small bit of debris. Not much or any more than I've ever seen. I'll check the crank sensor tomorrow. Ken is hooking me up with his 06' stock cams Rick. I figure they will be here in time to re assemble late next week, or weekend. I have a picture of the lifter, but it's late and I'm tired. I'll show it off in the morning.

Be sure to looks for scoring on the back of the cam plate between the supply and scavenge ports. If it's scored, replace the cam plate |

Mike,
That is one gorgeous cam plate and pump! Bob, I think I have a set of SE203's laying around here if you would like them. Yours for the asking. |
