My 88 has a mild cam in it, so yes I hear that, its also carbed. But actually at first I thought they programed a little chop into it, when I firt got it. It is a very quite engine. doesn't have the TC sewing machine tick.
I now have a 2-1, so is alot differant sound. So my 88 is built, and 96 has 2-1, so hard for me to compare anymore. Like I said 96, is nice quit running engine, I like that.

BTW, everyone feels some sort a romantic attraction to there bike. Go listen to an older bike, and the way they idlle. Shovel riders feel the same way about there bike, you feel about your 88, when compared to 96.
