Dispose-All
Insinkerator or the like. Ours took a crap last night.
How difficult are they to replace?

They do get stuck. There is a allen wrench you use to turn it backwards from an access on the bottom of the unit.

If it is an Insinkerator, you should be able to disconnect the wires and plumbing, twist the old one off, twist the new one on and reconnect the wires and plumbing. Turning the breaker off first, of course. I did mine a few months ago and it took longer to clear out all the crap under the sink than it did to replace.

Useque is correct. Only slightly more complicated than taking the trap apart. Stick with same brand and you might get lucky about the disconnect ring on the sink.

Like they said, pretty easy to change. Don't skimp on the new one. the cheap ones are cheap for a reason. I already learned this the hard way.

Does your dishwasher empty into it? If it does, make sure the replacement has the connector for that. I think most do at this point.

As said several times already, it's not difficult. Changed from GE to Insinkerator so I had to change the mounting collar on the sink and it still wasn't bad. Also agree, don't chince on the unit.

Insinkerator 333 (1/2 hp) installed 1999. Going strong. When~if~ever it dies it will be swapped with their top line "evolution" model.
I would not consider another brand. BTJM
