No. The swingarm pivot point is well documented as being the weak link.

Also, fall away is the generic term we all use. Properly, fall AWAY is for softails and FX's. And 'neck bearing adjustment' is for FLH's. Due to trail differences in the triple trees, softails and FX's front end will "fall away" at a certain point when pushed past center. Both wheels need to be off the ground to test.

FLH's need to adjust to the number of swings left and right with both wheels off the ground.

Either way, the end result is the same. If it's not within spec, the bike handles like shit. Mine had a high speed weave in it that would put a pucker in your undies. My adjuster nut was too tight.

Too loose, and you can get a tank slapper that could toss you to the ground.

If you loosen the cables are you not taking out something out of the equation that would change the settings when re-attached. Ie: drag? friction?

Yep, the wobble I had was unrelated to the rear end. The bike was not aligned front to rear so the rear was pulling the bike and the front was fighting itself between the designed in trail and trying to track with the rear end. Not a real big deal until the speed was high enough that my weight and the inertia of the bike was overcome by the force working the front end.

Nope, the adjustment procedure is done this way to take the variables of different cable types, lengths, and routings out of the procedure.
