Simple Green Aircraft + Oiled Air Filter = Not Good

OK, I sprayed some Simple Green Aircraft diluted 1:1 w/ water on the gunky parts of my engine, let it sit for 2 minutes, then rinsed. I usually only do this to the bottom of the cases, but hit the top this time, too. When I rinsed the area between the lifter blocks, it splashed into the back side of my air cleaner cover, and started stripping the oil out of my K&N. I discovered this after I went for a ride and noticed that I had a thinned version of the red filter oil dripping down onto the cam chest cover, and when I took my a/c cover off, I saw that my filter had several white stripes on it, devoid of any oil.
Be careful with this stuff!

I have an open aircleaner and always cover it with a baggie and zip tie. I use S100. But even when I used the stock football cover, I never got that shiit anywhere near the air cleaner. You're probably just excited about ER coming up and not really a dumbass.

Not that I'm not excited...

Good tip. I use the S100, and had to go out into the garage and check. The filter was fine but sometimes the obsessive compulsive thing gets the better of be.

Whats the difference between wal mart simple green and aircraft? I have always used walmart with excellent results, just rinse good.

i use the S-100 stuff and i always take off my air cleaner, and cover the intake with a plastic bag...

I use both Wallyworld Simple Green & S-100

Always been careful with phluids around the K&N philter no matter what kind.

Aparently there was some issue w/ the regular Simple Green and corrosion with aluminum on aircraft, so it wasn't approved for aircraft use. I got it free, so, what the hell...
Rinsing like the devil sounds like a good idea if you're using the regular stuff.

Regular Simple Green will eat aircraft alloys in a hurry under the right conditions. We are strictly prohibited from using it.
