I'm guessing that if Mr. T.O.E. has anything to say about it which I'm sure he will.... I'm guessing the answer will be yes.
It's a week away. I'm going with "the forecast will change for the good".

Having to sit around with friends while raising a glass of your favorite beverage and watching the rain come down sounds awful. Where do I sign up?

This is the time of the year for afternoon storms. They generally don't last all day, just a couple of hours in the evening. We're also looking at a forecast for a week from now, so it's a semi-educated guess at best at this point.
I'll be there regardless.

I hate it when plans have to be cancelled like that. Hope everything works out for the best.

Single as usual. 8 hours of average rain I can deal with. if it looks like flooding monsoons I'll chicken out. Been there, done that, not fun.

showers and t-storms thru Sunday. I'll check again tomorrow.
just looked at a road map I have done the I-95 Alexandria-Baltimore thing in the rain and it is no fun on Friday afternoon traffic in the rain. Cut west on 17 just pass Fredericksburg then 15 north all the way to I-81 to I-80. Somewhat more time, more casual, and safer. If I don't fall asleep. I am working all night Thursday. Please let me know if this thing gets cancelled due to low participation. It is this weekend, isn't it?

No plans to cancel. Most storms should be typical summer, afternoon type.
As for your route, you might want to consider taking the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and coming up Routes 1 and 13 to Wilmington and I-495 to the Pocono exchange. That is the route I use when going to the Outer Banks.

Fred;
I live near your proposed route. Tom has a good suggestion, but being summer and beach traffic I would caution that route may have its own chock points as well. The route 17 to 15 is a decent option, but it does take you further west. When you get near Harrisburg PA, expect some delays on a Friday afternoon trying to get around the city. That has been my experience the last two years. Once your east of town it clears up quick.
