Got my new shoes...
I finally got new tires mounted yesterday. Went with the Metzler ME880 Marathon. Once installed, I went for a 50 mile ride to break them in. Impressions so far: very low road noise compared to the stock Dunlops, and they feel solid in the curves. The ride is quite smooth as well. I just hope that I get decent mileage out of them.

Yeah, look the pressures up on the Metz site. They are WAY more than you're used to with the Dunlops, which have an actual carcas.
 The tire will actually separate and fling off hunks of tread if you run it low.

Bill, you'll need to up the pressure with the Avons as well. They now recommend 40 front and 44 rear.
