Moving sucks

We’ve got a little over a week left before settlement on the house in DFW. Been working on clearing the house out. It’s amazing how much stuff you accumulate over 17 years. I’m finding stuff I hadn’t touched in 15 years, and other stuff I bought and never used.

We’re downsizing, so I’m having to make some hard decisions on what I’m able to keep. I never realized how many HD t-shirts I’ve collected over the years. I also have about 200 lbs of computer equipment, including a 9600 baud pocket modem from the ‘90s.

Oh yeah, and the air conditioner decided to stop working this past weekend. Great timing

Moving is a big deal. Sorting through years of collected "stuff" can really suck. However, after all is done, you can expect a big feeling of relief.
Downsizing and simplifying your life is a good thing.

Yup, moving sucks. We will have to do it 1 more time when done with the Mom's. We lost everything in 2003 to the Old Fire.....I do have a bunch of crap now though.

The BH and are planning of executing a "downsize" next spring/summer. It is an undertaking I already dread.

Yay! I am still in the middle of moving, old storage almost empty.
The BH still refuses to look through some of any of the stored stuff to see if we can get rid of it.

I'm down to basically the garage now. That might take a week. Makes you feel like a hoarder sometimes. Like: "I've had that for 16 years and never touched it, but I'm sure I'll have a use for it someday soon"

We aren't planning to move until we can no longer manage the stairs, but I've been thinning out stuff for several years now. Books and papers and fabric have comprised a good portion of it, but the charity shops in the area have benefited from much of the rest.

We just finished cleaning out the basement..... it's been used for storage for over 20 years. We filled a 20 yard bin.... now that's purging.

The BH has been saying, for the past 16 years, "we" are going to go through it during her time off, then "we" don't do it.
