Printers??....
So the time to upgrade the house dinasour printer is here.....
I can see a good office inkjet is better than a cheap laser??? Y/N? Mostly I need to be able to scan and from mobile devices. I also have the entire province in a topo grid or aerial photos from the goverment so I can make my own hunting maps. A home based printer that could do 11x17's would be cool, I don't see paper sizes listed on home units  All I know about them, is when my office one gives me issues I phone the number on the side and the one in my home office is pathetic.... Any insights are greatly appreciated!! So I don't get rooked by the Staples sales person... Dirk

Our last couple printers have been HP Officejets that copy, print, scan. It can fax too, I just don't leave a phone line connected because too many places out there cold call looking for fax machines to send their BS Business propositions.
Our current one is the Officejet 6500 series. It has wireless capability, but since it sits next to the router, it's hardwired. I have no problems scanning and printing from my wireless laptop. Just make sure you download the HP drivers to the device you want to work from.

You might check the cost of replacement cartridges though. HP probably isn't the cheapest, but then you don't have to buy the replacements from Best Buy or Staples. They can be bought over the web for much cheaper.

What I like about the Brother Software is the PaperPort feature for scanning. Allows you to scan to PDF or choose other formats.
I can't stand it when I get Jpeg and bitmap scans from people I do business with.

Get away from ink. The price on mid-level laserjet printers have come way down and the replacement cartridges are well in line of ink and you, on average, have less trouble with them. Ink cartridges are a raping. Cheaper to buy a new printer than the replacement ink for them.
