About a month ago while working at the PD we recieved a call for a verbal domestic dispute at this residence. At the time there was no reason to suspect any kind of child abuse...as far as we could tell. It was nothing more than 2 young adults fighting and the neighbors complaining. Fast forward a month, and that's where the first link takes you. Now the latest reports are.... Linky I can't help but think that we should have done something, checked on the little boy or SOMETHING. I've litteraly been sick "monday morning quarterbacking" our last contact with the couple, and why we didn't go check on the little boy. If you go to the mothers Facebook page there's a picture of the 3 of them and Leelan has a big bruise right on his forehead. It just makes me sick. The boyfriend is now in jail awaiting trial, and then surely prison, which will not be kind to him. I can't help but think that the mother needs to join him due to her complacency.

I've seen kds in the ICU knowing that their arents put them there. Seeing it doesn't numb you to it.

I'm so sorry, Josh. There was no way for you to know a couple of spatting young people were capable of something like this. One responds to calls, does the best one can to calm the situation, then hopes for the best. Until training confers upon us the ability to see into the future that's all any of us can do.

Don't beat yourself up, dude. It's a fine line you walk between protecting lives and respecting people's rights.
That's a sick mofo who will get his dues in prison. I personally would go for the death penalty as it was a premeditated act. That poor child. that idiot mother is as complicit as the boyfriend. She should be terminated as well.

Not your fault Josh. Even had you checked the child, they would've lied their asses off to cops. Short of kidnapping the baby, there wouldn't have been any saving him. The good lord took him for a reason. Only he knows what that child would've gone through, had leelan lived. It's very sad and these two will pay.

D-BAG CRICKY Right now their both in protective custody. If they were to wind up in gen-pop I doubt that they would make it through the night. The entire community is up in arms right now. I've got to work a 6p-2a shift tonight (Friday the 13th), hopefully the curb squirrels will behave.
