Phil knows how to find beer.

After riding down a dusty gravel road, hot, sweaty, and with no beer, we pulled into a campground in the Ozark Ntl Forest on the way to Eureka Springs this summer. Rain in the forecast, too. He found some college kids partying down the way and they gave him a few beers. They weren't all that cold, but they sure did hit the spot. We were going to put them in the creek to cool down, but it was too far to walk and we were more concerned about getting making camp before the rain came.

I got that pic of him with the Shiner last night too. He looked like he was enjoying the adventure!! Can't wait to hear the stories from the trail

An updated text message said the photo above was in Fayetteville, AR. He said they have now made their way into Oklahoma and is somewhere near Salina.

You know you're right. When we camped in Arkansas, Phil had MRE's and I had Backpacker's Pantry dinners with a package of tortillas. We traded food, and the MRE's were quite tasty,... somewhat better than the Backpacker's Pantry stuff I brought.

A new update: says that they camped in Washington Cove Reservation, Oklahoma. I don't see any scalps hanging around, so perhaps they are amongst friendys..

Looks sunny and beautiful. I'm glad he waited to go into New Mexico. I just came out of Ruidoso yesterday and we hit high winds and heavy rain. Praying for clear skies as he heads that way!
