Plant based burgers
I see more and more of them being advertised. Healthier, planet saving non-meat products. Can't tell the difference, they say.
I once tried a tofu hot dog back in he 70's. Tasted like mush. Right or wrong, I am a meat lover. Give me a good medium rare rib-eye, any day. Just my opinion.

Tried an Impossible Whopper a few weeks back.
The 'meat' has the same appearance and texture as regular beef. And the taste was pretty close to beef, as well. To me it seemed like it had a slight nutty taste. I thought it was OK.

I am a little confused. Now if they don't want folks to eat meat, why do they make their product look and taste like meat?
Wean them off slowly, I know.

They want the taste of meat without the guilt of eating food that was once attached to a face. Fair enough, I reckon.
Doesn't seem to be much sentiment out here in the sagebrush about eating things once attached to faces and even names. My daughter-in-law served The Turkey Formerly Known as Tom for dinner last week. T

Quote:
I was curious about it. Reports are that it's so modified that it's not even a true nutritional alternative to the regular Whopper, meaning that it's just as 'bad' for you as regular beef. I guess there's demand for it.

Soylent Green
Set in the year 2022, the cumulative effects of overpopulation, pollution and some apparent climate catastrophe has caused severe worldwide shortages of food, water and housing. There are 40 million people in New York City alone, where only the city's elite can afford spacious apartments, clean water and natural food, and even then at horrendously high prices. The homes of the elite usually include concubines who are referred to as "furniture" and serve the tenants as slaves. I still trust cows more than I trust chemists.

My neighbor gave us some veggie burgers, tried them twice and threw the rest out

I tried the impossible whopper a while back. It was terrible, I couldn’t even finish it.
You can’t beat the taste or smell of charred animal flesh!
