Operating Systems and mapping software
Does anybody know if there is a preference for Vista vs. XP when it comes to working with fuel injection mapping software? Thanks, all.

XP wins hands down. Vista is a bloated, unmanageable piece of crap.

At issue is finding XP. Vista is on everything now so finding a laptop with XP is getting tougher. But it can be done. It just might take a little longer. I can get an XP laptop from Dell if I have to.
I'm not a huge Vista fan, either. What I'm looking for is whether or not mapping software will work on Vista. If it works, no problem. But I have a couple DOS programs that don't work so well on Vista as well as Peachtree 2006. So I'm wondering about the compatability... Thanks.

I've got messages in to folks who should be able to answer, if nobody here pipes up.

I have run the TMAX suite, as well as the Master Tune and Twin Scan suites on both XP ands Vista. No issues with either. I would not lose any sleep fretting over this.

XP is more compatible with just about everything.
If you want to get a laptop, I would suggest a Dell, go on their support site and look at the availible drivers for the unit. Make sure it has XP drivers available, download those drivers and reload it with XP. Let me know if you need a copy of XP. I may have 1 or 10 laying around.

Dan, I also have some spare XP cds, so if Ed can't fix you up, I can.
