Upon Review
I have written some reviews on TripAdvisor.com
Today they sent an email to tell me that my "most read" review is the one I did on Fe Butte's place in the tiny berg of Bridgeport, CA. Over 2000 views. I guess Tom will be having company. As an aside: while on the site I noticed that the Meadowlark is #28 of the 28 hotels in Maggie Valley.

Almost sorry you gave us such a great write up.
I feel it is overpriced and needing updated furniture. The plumbing fixtures need replacing / upgrading and the five gallon toilets should be replaced with more water friendly ones that can handle a full load without plugging up.

And if no one is available to check out old/new palooza inns, all you have to go on is blind faith. Trip Advisor (and other review sites of that ilk) can be helpful tools only if there are relatively current reviews to go by. Seems to me that most Mom and Pops nowadays count on weekly rentals, primarily to construction workers, as their primary means of keeping the lights on. The weekend passers-thru, while helping the bottom line somewhat, seem to have become an afterthought. And if the inn is booked solid during the week, that leaves little time to properly maintain/update the joint. Don't get me wrong-there are still fine Mom and Pops out there. The nicer ones seem to be those that cater primarily to the motorcyclist crowd, tho.
