Chromer,
Your highway bars look very similar to the 518's. They might have just a bit more curvature to them. I've only been able to sit on the bike a few times since we still have snow on the ground. It'll be a while before I ride but I'll keep ya's posted. |

changing bars gets old ..... hopefully this change will be the last, as this is for sure the last saddle change for me on this bike ....... so when I get the bars right for this saddle, I should be done

I have the 518's on my RK and love them...........but then I'm kinda strange 6' 1" and only a 32" long arm and inseem. You will need to get at least 2" longer throttle cables, 4" is even better. I have a 2 piece Mustang seat and am good for 600 miles with this setup.

Still interested in seeing Photos of your Road King Custom with your new Wild One 518's Handlebars. Did you get them on yet?? |

I've been looking at handlebars for a while now, but don't want to make a mistake, (I have enough old parts in the garage). Since I installed the factory cruise control, the stock handlebars aren't so bad anymore. What I would like is a set of grips that have slide out extenders (extension tubes inside the grips) for long trips, so I can lean back.

I don't when slide out bar extenders will be offered?? But, I've found another way to "extend" my bars for less than a $100. Even with my Highway Bars I wanted just a tad more pullback on long cruises. I added the Kuryakyn Pilot Grips http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=harley&ci=2496 and put the matching Throttle Boss levers on both grips. I'm not a big fan of Kuryakyn anything. But these grips are as smooth as silk. With the matching throttle boss's, I've added another 3" of pullback to my bars. The boss caps provide support for my palm and a place to hook my thumb around so I know I have a secure grip on the bars. This may be an option to consider? Hopefully these photos will better explain what I'm trying to describe? Road Kings ROCK!! |
