Creaky softail

My Fatboy has gotten creaky recently. Is there something in the suspension that needs to be lubed? Sounds like a spring squeek.....

I was thinkin' about the same thing last time I cut the grass. The Sears riding lawnmower was creakin' up a storm!

I'm thinkin' belt noise--rubbing on the pulley.

If it is when you hit bumps, it is the shocks. Have to rebuilt or replaced.
If is when you let off the gas or get on the gas it is the belt, needs to be adjusted. Probably too loose.

Its bumps and when I sit on it. I know I could lose a few pounds, but sheesh! How hard to rebuild?

In the shock it can be a few things. Very common are the rubber bushing on the mounting bolts get dry and start to squeak. This can be check with a little belt dressing sprayed on the mounting points to see if it helps the squeak. The other is the springs rubbing on the housing. Buy new Progressives if that is the case.

sweet. Thanks for the info....

I hit the bushings with some lube last night since I have it up on the lift anyway. Once I get the front wheel back on, I will get her on the ground and check it out.....
