So pre 2007 big twin and he says the compensator itself is bad, not just the retaining nut coming loose and making a noise.
Just wow! Must do some hard lanches.

Translation: Full throttle when you drop the clutch and don't spin the rear tire much.

Never done it. I try to take it easy on this bike because the previous owner was a little negligent on the upkeep. Now, I'm trying to catch it up.

I know, but it was my dads, so I couldn't turn it down. He loved that thing, just didn't take very good care of it. I figure I can sink a little money into it and still come out ahead, so that's why it's been in the shop so much. I want to keep it running as long as possible.

Mine's just started a little rattle from time to time in the primary, from the sounds of things, it sounds like the compensator sprocket may be getting loose in there. Gonna check it out sometime this week....

This guy does all the bike work for a local car dealership that takes bikes in on trade. He knows his stuff too, and works for peanuts. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Just wondered if anyone had any other ideas of what this could be if the compensator doesn't fix the problem.
