Any of you doofs use an ipod on a softail?

I am looking to have tunes but still have noises of traffic to stay aware....whats the solution?

I have seen the speakers you mount on the handlebars, are ANY of them really worth a crap? I could just use a headset but that limits my awareness

I don't have a softtail, but I do use an iPod with noise cancelling earphones. You can still hear outside noise,... it just cuts down a lot on the wind noise and pipes. With speakers, I would think you'd need an amp to get them loud enough to hear while crusing... I dunno.

Just ride close to me..I'll sing.

I use earplugs and an ipod, sometimes. You can still hear the outside noises.

I use an ipod. But I plug it into my aux port and just turn the speakers.
