You don't need anything to special. Only bad thing about the graphite dust, I use, it makes a mess. For the most part, I don't think you will notice one way or the other, unless you let it get real bad. The 1st time I lubed fork lock on my FLHR, I noticed. Other then that, I don't think its a big deal.

T-15 and T20 Torx.
Pull hinge pins, one at a time, clean them real good, and use never-seize on the pins. Clean the hinges real good too. Put them back together, and forget about them forever.

Well you could pack them in wheel bearing grease.....I bet they would last forEVER...but, carry a soft rag for wiping down the saddle bag on a hot sunny day...
