Nine years ago today
my mother, Joy Collins Arnold, died of brain cancer.
Still doesn't seem possible. Mom as a senior in high school. Thanks to her and her teammates, their high school team was the first girls team in Arkansas allowed t play full court. She loved basketball and played until she was almost sixty. Joy Collins Arnold basketball Circa 1949 (2) (528x800).jpg

She was a beauty. And, there was much more than just her beauty to be proud of.

Thank you all. I am missing her more today than usual and it's nice to share her photo and memories of her.
My grandmother also played basketball in high school and so did I. Hoped Carolina would make a fourth generation but she preferred volleyball, which my mom also played. She got married at nineteen, but said if Daddy hadn't come along she'd have coached women's basketball.

Here's another hug from me. The person I miss most was also a basketball player and coach and died from cancer.

I appreciate all condolences, but that is a particularly sweet thing to say. Thanks, T.
