Heres the tensioners, sorry about the crappy cell phone pics but its all I have for now. The outter tensioner is heavily pitted but very little wear, the chain is onlycutting down into the pad about .020 the rear pad is tight as a sob and I cant unload it to look but the chain is not cutting into the pad at all, or so it appears. 59900 miles, original tensioners. Mobil-1 since new.
Why would they pit so bad but have no chain wear into the pad?

I dunno.
Those pits almost look like air bubbles from the manufacturing process. You'd think when these things wear out they'd flake rather than pit.

I thought the same thing, air bubbles in the plastic. Regardless, the new system is suppose to have unsurpassed life with no wear, I recommend everyone should get these things out. If harley did it right they would recall and repair all of them. This is a design flaw.

When I bought the Ultra last year I had the stealer change the tensioners as part of the deal. The bike had 24k on it when I got it. I think I'll run with it for awhile before I upgrade.
