quick question on pad pins...
Do you use anti-seize on the pad pins and then loctite on the threads or just loctite on the threads?

I am pretty sure you use antiseize on all, but will wait to see what the rest say. Good timing on your question....

I am not really into loctite on steal into aluminum on parts that have to removed regularly for service. Did they have locktite on them when you took them out?
I have never worked on the new fangled brakes they put on new bikes so I do not know. I would follow what Lyndall has to say. Locktite the mounting bolts but not the pins. http://www.lyndallracingbrakes.com/service_tech.htm I would not use anti seize on the pins, it will collect dust and cause things to eventually bind. |

A tiny bit on the inside where the pins go can make sure that they will come out again, or teflon spray.

Do NOT use anti-sieze on those pins! If it gets hot and ends up on your pads, you got big problems. They make silicone caliper grease for this application, but I don't believe the HD manual calls for it. A little blue locktite won't hurt, but I also don't think the manual calls for it.

Too late... I ain't taking it apart... It was the thinnest of films. I used it last time and never had a problem... just noticed it wasn't called for when I read the lyndall instructions. Don't know where I got the idea to use it last time.
speed bleeders installed... fluid changed... bled... Man, my front fluid was low and did it look like crap... a little like lake eerie. timing belt adjusted... oh yeah... |
