I probably could have gotten a few more out of it, but like it says upthread it'd be bald somewhere between here and CO. It actually had 3/32 over the center wear bars, so I kept it I kept it as a spare--yah, packrat. Advertised tread depth is 11/32, so it is better than half gone.

2/32 is recommended replacement depth by all tire manufactures. It's also the legal limit before you can be sited for equipment violations. Like anyone here is worried about getting a ticket for a bald or near bald tire, but why push it?

It's actually 3/32 over the bar, which is at 1/32, so really there's 1/8 of tread there. But you're all right, it was near time to replace regardless.

Thumbs up

I've got ~10,360 miles on my Dunlops and I'll be getting them replaced soon, before any extened trip.
I'm thinking of Avons, and I'll do both back and front.

You've probably said in another thread 8, but which particular avons and what size are you running... you seem to get awefully good mileage if I remember correctly.

hey 9's check out the Goodyear dealer in Dimmit TX, Two friends have gotten tires there for good price... found out from last one he got Dulop E3's ... well he actually only got one for the rear. First guy had one done last fall, didn't say what kind of tire he got on his ultra but it was around $150 installed, second friend just two weeks ago got Dunlop E3 on the rear of his goldwing for $150... again installed... sounds like a pretty good price for the tire, balance, and install to me.
