Du's CM450 project

Started in on it today, stripping parts off. First impression is that it's a pretty simple bike. I've made huge progress and will post some pix later.

I'm getting ready to pull the rear wheel so I can get the air box out. Then I'm getting a brush and bucket and give it a bath, it's really dusty.

While I search for parts, I'm gonna rattle can the frame and peg brackets, and work on the tank, bondo-ing 2 small dents and then stripping, primer and painting it. I did that with my old H0nda 305 Scrambler with automotive touch up rattle can and was really happy with the results.

Thanks to darrell sending me some measurements, I think a Sporty fender on the rear is just the ticket. The side to side of the bike is 7 inches and a Sporty fender is 6.

Not sure about a front fender, maybe a thin Sporty or Dyna, front measure is 5"wide. Maybe a fork brace....

Good luck, Du.

Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Nice bike, Mike.

Here's pix of what I've done so far.....

Right now I am thinking of a copper/black color scheme, (more black than copper) looking at the motor there's several aluminum pieces that could be nicely powder coated.

Now, this next is sort of stupid, but it's an idea I had when I needed to put something on the frame. It looks kind of silly here, but I think it could be made to work very well by someone with seat making skills...... Remember, I'm a noob, so if it sux, consider the source...

So far so good. If you're going with black and copper in color, how about looking for places on the engine to actually us copper accents?
