Yeah. Everyone knows if you have something hot you want to make cooler you wrap it with something.

Makes perfect sense.

All kidding aside the idea here would be that the increased surface area would result in cooling that would be enough to counteract the increasing of the wall thickness. You could determine if it would be any improvement using Fourier's Law:

http://www.taftan.com/thermodynamics/FOURIER.HTM

assuming you had the measurements of an oil filter's wall thickness and surface area, the thickness of the $35.00 item, and the surface area of it. It would be important to remember that each fin is also a three fold (or so) increase in thickness, so the average thickness of the "cooler" is at least double the thickness of it's base level.

At first glance it appears this would be a big zero (or worse) on cooling gain.

I have one, do not use it. Makes about a 5 degree decrease in oil temp. I put on real oil coolers and they work well. The one on my EVO is a H-D made by Lockhart and the one on my TC is a H-D made by Jagg.

If you want it Gray, all you have to do is pay shipping.

You are on the cheap, why not convert you crash bars to an oil cooler?

"It works so well that you will be able to lay your knuckles on your rear valve cover at 55 mph on a 70 degree day without burning them!"

My running head temp, w/out a cooler, is around 230*. This thing would have to refrigerate your oil to meet the claim above.

Mine fell off a couple of times. The last time it didn't get put back on. I need a way to make it stick. Maybe AMBP would help?
