Got the tower completed. Since it went up, I haven't suffered a single drop on the Starliink. The speed has also been amazing.

We tried Hughes net but they said we couldn't get the higher speed we paid for because we were outside of the "foot print" for the higher speed service.

Trees block the Starlink signal. Realistically, if it were solely for the Starlink it could probably be a little shorter, but not much. We also put our cell booster YAGI on it. Since the nearest tower is 8-10 miles away miles away as the crow flies, (depending on which app you use) it needs to be as high as possible. However, I am limited to 100' of rg11 cable from the antenna to the booster amp, so it went at the bottom of the mast (40ft).

Hughesnet sucks bad
Viasat (which we had/have) sucks less, but still really sucks.
Starlink is a win on all fronts. It's cheaper, faster, and now, with the tower, more reliable.

I don't know what the forum software does to pictures. It posts fine on a web page, it looks normal on my computer, but attach it to my post and it gets turned sideways. I tried rotating the picture and saving, but then it doesn't change it and it still looks sideways.

I still get an obstruction around 9 each morning, and I have to run the cable in conduit, since it’s not rated for direct burial. That means I have to climb up that thing. Not something I’m looking forward to.

I do have a tree stand harness, which may be good enough.

Maybe conduit is better if you have to pull a new cable.

If it only has one hook, then

You need a second hook to secure you to the pole while you disconnect the other one and advance it up/down while you climb/decend.

My recommendation. Rent a tow behind boom lift that you can back next to the unit and go straight up/down while you stand safely in the bucket as you install the conduit and feed the cable.
You will thank me later..

I’ve seen the tower climbing harnesses and watched videos of how they work. Pretty sure I can get close to what they do. I

I have a pretty bad fear of heights, so I’m going with 4 hooks and a positioning strap. I should be ok once I work up the courage to climb it. I might even wear a helmet.

Just remember you will also have to hoist up the conduit and have some way to secure it while you're assembling and pulling the wire. Be cautious that your feet and arms are going to suffer some fatigue as this is something that you have possibly never done. Learn to recognize when you're starting to feel it and don't push it. Climb down and rest or wait another day even if you're not finished.
