How to get crap off your pipes
Lets just get this one out of the way...
Okay... lets hear your methods. I say #0000 steel wool lubricated with WD-40 on warm pipes removes even the most stubborn plastic and rubber. I was worried that it would scratch the chrome, but didn't. I work it slow, however... no digging. |

A sharpened scrap of lexan. But you have to use special oriental polishing stones to get it just right. It takes hours of painstaking precision to get just the right edge.

Hi all.
Ok, Steel wool and carburetor cleaning spray works, BUT, don't spray it on the pipe, if it gets on the paint, it can ruin it. Spray it onto the steel wool pad(Away from the bike) then scrub it on the area with the smuts. You will want to wear gloves wile doing this, the chemicals can soak through your skin and hurt your liver and Kidneys.

SOS pads works great on cold pipes and all the other chrome too. Leaves the chrome real shiny and clean after rinsing all the blue stuff off with plenty of water.
No scratches. |

Have used Goo Off on a good warm but not really hot pipe for a couple of moderate heel marks and plastic/rubber melts. Worked pretty good. They also have a BBQ Grill cleaner they claim is excellent for "baked on dirt and grease".

Oven cleaner worked for me, just warm the pipes up a little bit, takes melted boots right off. Didn't seem to affect the chrome at all.

I start the engine and as the pipe warms I use turtle wax brand chrome polish. Patti's boots and this method get along fine.

I'll be damned, for many reasons.
Since Iput my fatcatr on,been getting brownswirl, fromthe rear pipes. Looks like crap, wasn't sure if from my jeans or bad chrome. Srape with windex, mothers, and never dulls until my fingers ached. Not much good. Wet rag, and wt SOS pad, and 10 seconds it was off. Seriously just came right off. Hope when its dry in the morning I am this happy. |
