Service In Bell County Is Getting Rare
Granted that there are two HD shops, both owned by the same guy.
I have long used independents for a number of reason which I don't have to list here. For a long time, Kay's Motorcycle Mania in Harker Heights was my go to shop and then I used primarily The Grove Motorcycle Shop. Kay's closed up a couple of years ago and the Grove closed this week. I hate to go back to my driveway at my age but that looks like my only recourse.

I hear ya Jim!
Good shops are a rare find. All the dealers in this area rank low on my list, but Texas HD is the lowest of the low. I think Skip will agree with me on that. I went to my favorite dealer today because I needed tires and they offer free installation. Problem is, most of the Indy's are here one day, gone the next. So, being the paranoid conspiracy theorist I am, I have my garage, Pit Bull lift and service manual. At least I know it will be done right, and if I mess it up I just blame Dinero and call KenR, who is the modern day motorcycle MacGyver You'll have to visit soon Jim, she's starting to not believe me when I blame you.

Wow, it seems like it was only a short time ago that I was at Kay's with you. You say it's been years(!). Time does fly. I recall i was on the RK, so, yup. At least two years.

Dinero,
If you want to make the trek to 'twixt New Braunfels and San Antonio... I would be honored to lend a hand. ....but I'm not hauling my lift and tools up there....

Nope. And two less coffee stops in the morning. Quote:
Thanks Chip. Hopefully I don't need anything outside of a fluid change for a while. You, Dan and Paul are a pretty long push if something goes wrong. There is one last "shop" over in Killeen that I can use. He's been around for about 20 years now. It's a very small, crowded work shop that is never a quick in and out. Other than that, it is a 60 mile trip to Jim's in Axtell.

Hell, at that point you might as well bring it here. My rates are always quoted in slices of pie. US Pie, of course.

Is the one in Killeen Texas Proud? When I was there 10 years ago Wiz was good not fast, but good. He's also been known to be a real asshole. As far as Jim's in Axtell.......I'd never darken his door again.

Funny we were just talking about this. I went to Dallas HD to get new tires on Elvis. They offer free install so I thought I'd let them do it. I got the bike back and ride down to the cabin. Along the way I would hear a weird squeaky sound. When I got to the cabin I looked and found this:
I guess it's true. You get what you pay for. I think a coat hanger will get me home.

I can't think of the guy's name right now but his shop is just south of 190 on the road to Florence on the right behind the Taco Bell. He's been there at least ten years now.

Friend of mine in Sierra Vista, AZ took his bike in for service recently. Had the same issue and you Dan. They also damaged his Agitator contrast rim so bad it's getting replaced too.
