I love New Orleans! I'm markin' my calander for this trip!
Karen and I would like to meet up with y'all in St. Francisville on th 19th. I would ride the Bike from New Orleans and she would come after school by car from LSU Baton Rouge. We don't camp so we would be looking to stay in a Motel, Hotel or B&B. The 20th is my son Nicholas' birthday so I would like to be in NOLA by Friday evening to hang with him, as he gets out of school at 3:00 pm. I'd like to have a few hours with him before he decides to go out with his friends. Here is an offer: If you'd like we could order crawfish from the local seafood joint, set up some tables at my house and eat them there on the 21st. Let me know your thoughts. We could spend all day Friday, Mar 20th, in and around St. Francisville and/or do some interesting rides in the area. We'd head to New Orleans sometime Sat morning, Mar 21st, for the crawfish boil in the afternoon, then hang out in NOLA on a Saturday night! They'll be plenty of us tp help to pitch in for the cost, bring some liquid refreshment, help with the cleanup, and whatever else needs to be done. I'll keep track of the headcount so we'll know how much to get. Would we pick 'em up live at the seafood joint and boil 'em at your place, Mike, or buy them already boiled? What do y'all think about this plan so far???

I'm gonna start a separate thread just for the headcount for this run. It'll be the first post, and you won't have to look far to find it.

I am hopeful that she will be able to make it. Still trying to juggle her vacation days at this point.

Okay thanks. I'll list her as tentative then...

Very generous offer Mike. If you are sure you want a bunch of doofs at your place, then I am more than willing to help, chip in some $$ or whatever else is required to pull it off!

Thanks Mike!
Let me run this by y'all and tell me your take on it. The only thing was, I was hoping for the New Orleans thing on Friday... that way the ride all the way back to Wichita Falls won't be on the heels of fun NOLA entertainment. Friday Mike visit (I had not run this by him yet so it was not certain but was on my mind) and Friday night NOLA adventures, Saturday local relaxing and enjoying St. Francisville ferry, rides, etc... Then pick up some crawfish and eat, relax at the camp. Just tossing this out there. |

I didn't know you had preferred NOLA on a Friday night as opposed to Saturday night, Phil...

We've also got to think of this:
HOW would we haul boiled crawfish back to the campsite? I ain't puttin 'em in my tourpak or saddlebags. IMO, its much better off if we go somewhere to eat them rather than trying to drag them back.

I already thought of that and the way they bag them, I would gladly rest them on my bike somewhere.
BUT... I am not the decision maker on all this. My primary concern is a long night before a long ride. |

If anything at all, I call it quits early and let you guys keep at it. I have to have my rest before a 10 hour ride back home. I am getting old!!! |

I certainly understand your point about good rest before a long ride. You, Don, and BillyB probably have the longest rides home. Googlemaps has you at ~588 miles routing back through Baton Rouge and all Interstate.
Waiting for Don to weigh in on this issue too. Googlemaps has him at ~655 miles and all Interstate routing through Baton Rouge and DFW. BillyB is ~512 miles.
