Took the tank to a local garage that was kind enough to let me use their parts washer. Inside is as clean as I could get it. Broke one of the speed nuts that holds the back of the tank in place, and of course no local dealer has it in stock, so that'll be Wednesday before I can button the back of the bike up.
Lines are all installed except for the drain. I'm not 100% in love with the way they worked out. The POS tank has the bosses too close together, so I can't use 90 degree fittings for the vent and return lines. The return line would love a 45 degree, given where the line has to go, but the transmission is in the way, so the 45 is on the vent line, and I had to clock it towards the outside of the bike to fit. The other issue is the huge hose end fittings. They're well over an inch long, giving me less room to make my bends down to the motor. Worst of all is the feed line, but I went with a larger line there, so hopefully there won't be an issue with the bends. I'm really concerned with how the exhaust is gonna fit. Between the oil lines and the larger tank, I think there might be some issues there. Worst case I'll get the pipe ceramic coated, lose the heat shields, and wrap it. More to come...... On my Ultra, it was as simple as ordering the basket and sprocket from, IIRC, a 2001? No speedo error, etc.
