We could shift the dates for this Crawfish run to: March 15 & 16 (Sat & Sun) or March 21 & 22 (Good Fri, & Sat). March 22 & 23 (Sat & Easter Sun) probably wouldnt' be a good choice...

Ok, I am confused.
The only time I won't be available is Easter weekend. Got a Terducken on the way so their will be Cajun cookin' taking place here! So, we still have a finalbags 43 ride to Oklahoma on the schedule for the 8th?

Okay I just PM'd FinalBags to find out what the plans for the OK-43 ride were. I didn't know the ride was still happening before TJWilly posted up about that, then I reread the thread. Hopefully he'll get back to clear thing up...

Is it just one overnight in LA? If so, I could do it either weekend. Somebody will have to teach me how to eat crawfish tho! (I think I can figure the beer thing out myself)

2008 DCMC Crawfish Run
Okay, y'all its time to resurrect this Crawfish Run.
Here's the deal: Tentative Date: April 12 & 13 Ride Starts: Shreveport, Louisiana @ 8 AM Ride Route: Click to see the 2008 DCMC Crawfish Run Route Ride Ends: Leesville, LA (we'll all split up and go home from there) Saturday Mileage: (Shreveport, LA → St. Francisville, LA ≈ 485) Sunday Mileage: (St. Francisville, LA → Leesville, LA ≈ less than 200) My plans are to ride to Shreveport on Fri, April 11th and spend the night so to be ready to go at 8 AM on Saturday. That will be ≈ 340 miles for me,... its probably close to the same for folks coming from Wichita Falls, Oklahoma City, Sherman,... might be a bit closer for those coming from DFW. We will definetly be stopping at the Louisiana state hwy 43 and the Mississippi state hwy 43 signs. I've also found a few other parish road 43's on the map, but I dont' have a clue if they have signage,... so that will be like a treasure hunt. I do have their GPS coordinates, though. Could be interesting.... Saturday we'll be going through at least two historic towns that I know of so far: Natchez, MS and St Francisville, LA. Actually we'll be spending Saturday night in St. Francisville which is just a little north of Baton Rouge right next to the Mississippi River, and will find a place to chow down on some crawfish there. TJ Willy is checking into some places to stay and eat. Sunday we'll ride across the mighty Mississippi River on a ferry boat and then continue onto Leesville where we'll split up and go home. Who's in???

Yep. I am in.
I will make some calls tomorrow in St. Francisville. Depending on the result of that, I may bring my tent and do the camping thing. The place I have in mind may just have rooms (with showers) and room for tents too. I will post up about that. Missy and I got married in St. Francisville. Crawfish is good down there. Super old catholic church and tons of Azaleas should be in bloom. Could be a little late for those though. Depending on the numbers, I may be able to secure a good rate at the Residence Inn in S'port. I lived there for 14 months when I first moved to Shreveport. I know the management well. The big suite will sleep 6 in beds with room for bags on the floor. Big suite with a king upstairs, fold out of the wall queen and a fold out couch - queen I think. Split up the costs and it would be peanuts. Free beer and supper at night - supper may not be available on weekend nights. They have a pool and hot tub. Tennis and basketball. Shreveport offers plenty of dining opportunities. The best cajun food you will have out of a restaurant is at Copelands. You can't order anything bad there. Mmmmmmm. I also know a hole in the wall mexican restaurant that is fantastic. As well as a floating restaurant with good burgers and phillys. Better during the day b/c of the eye candy though. There is also a Ralph and Kacoos... not as good as Copelands though. Not to mention the crab legs and plethora of other food at the casino boats. $20 gets you all you can eat just about anything. It just depends on what everyone wants. Shreveport will be easy. Larry Flynt has an establishment there as well. Last edited by TJ Willy; 03-16-2008 at 11:49 PM. |
