Damn, that sucks on the road. The good point is it will be another 50,000 miles before you need to worry about it again...

Sorry to hear that Mike. At least you arent stranded somewhere where they play banjos.
I wasnt sure you could smell a burnt stator since it was enclosed but I guess you can. I had all my inner and outer gaskets and bushings and whatever else they replace done last fall with my 10k maintenance and they found a burnt coil and I replaced it. 48k, If you have a Police Edition, double the price.

Damn Mike, you're not having a good run of luck lately. I think Accel makes a high-output stator/charging system.

Seems I hear about burned stators more than just about any other malady. Anyone here have or know of anyone with a heavy duty stator that burned?

No, I had once upon a time been advised to go with the heavy duty stator in the Ultra, but I had 30K on mine (standard stator from MOCO)and it never gave me a hint of trouble. Looking to hopefully have a check in hand soon to go shopping for a new one, and I thought this would be a good time to find out if I need to add a few things when that happens.

Yeah, I'm thinking around the next 50k just going ahead and replacing it myself and saving any road side agony.

Yeah, the last one was covered under the extended warranty. Unfortunatly, this one won't be.
