Doofishul office remodel

well we started this project about a year ago by stripping off the 8 layers of 80 year old wall paper to see what we had under it. lets just say it was less than desirable. for those of you who don't know, amy and i live in a house that's over 80 years old and have been doing improvements as we go along little by little.

i got started by hiring out for some really cheap labor, but he didn't last long. he worked really slow...

i then took over the stripping of plaster..

after some serious beating on the walls i heard a noise above my head...

low and behold it was chickie, looks like he had made himself at home in the walls. well since he was there doing nothing i decided to put him to work....you know i needed all the help i could muster..

needless to day chickie wasn't too happy....and neither was his brother who had nested himself there as well..

well after getting all the plaster off it was time to get to some serious work...

on with the new drywall..

here it is getting closer to being done...

finally cutting the last piece of sheet rock for the day ...

this will be an ongoing project so stay tuned kiddies to see how it evolves.

I just got done gutting and re-doing a room in my place. What a mess!

did i mention i hate doing drywall. it's not so much the cutting and hanging, but the taping and floating that really suck.

no need for an exterminator, amy locked both of 'em in the basement..

I had a guy come in and do the project before this room. It was a 20x20x14 living space that I just did not want to tackle.

Made the project a whole lot easier.

That makes 2 of us. I had to re-do the garage ceiling in my place in GA because the PO installed the sheets parallel to the joists, AND he only used 6 screws per sheet. Thankfully, I managed to coerce my son into sanding the joints.

There's hardly any sandin to do iffin you put it on right in the first place.













At least that's what the guy who did my big room told me. And he was right. Course I had about 3 days of sanding in the room I did.

I never plan on installing enough drywall to get that good at it.

I don't so much mind tape & ploating as much as I hate texturing.

there will be no texturing at all.....oh and amy's in charge of the paint.
