Gaskets
When I finally get to the stage of putting my bike back together (assuming of course I can finish taking it apart without a pound of C-4), should I reassemble it using MoCo gaskets or are there much better, more preferred gasket for the job. Part numbers would be great if possible. If you are wondering what gaskets are needed, all of them.
Thanks.

I think I used Cometic, but that may have just been the head gaskets.

It's like an oil thread, I was told recently that hd gaskets are good, but you rarely have gasket failures anymore on stock bikes... but that's just one opinion

Cometic for just the head gaskets, MoCo for the rest?

Use Hannas for the base gasket, alot better than the paper gaskets from the MoCo. You really don't want to take it all apart again when the crappy paper gaskets from the MoCo get wet from the oil and start leaking.

Ed, I use the complete Cometic top end kits, everything you need in one box and you can pick the the head gasket thickness you need. Used them on all the builds I've done and not a single leak. Joe

Too lazy to look up the thread I read it in right this minute, but I recall someone saying something about the different O-rings needed to put the motor back together being labelled from one source, but not from another. Being this is my first build, I think labels would be great. Who labels the items as to where they go? Is it actually difficult to figure out where they go without the labels?
I just don't want it to take a month of Sundays to get the bike back together...already taking to long for me to get it apart.

Ed, and I have been putting my top end together from a box of gaskets it's not hard to figure out what's what, and the moco set came in separate bags

My kit wasn't labeled. I don't think it's that big a deal Ed.
Base gaskets, head gaskets, rocker gaskets and valve cover gaskets are pretty much a no-brainer. The rest are mostly o-rings that you can size up against the existing ones.

skinny o-rings top and bottom of pushrod covers
fat one about the same size go in between I do have 2 gaskets I don't know where they go, so I guess I don't need them....

Yeah, I believe there were a few "extras" in my kit as well.
