Winchester Model 67
Got this old .22 rifle the other day.
The bore looked all rusted up, Thought I'd give it a go at seeing how it cleaned up. Did a few days with some Safariland CLP soaking in there, then ran a few patches through, looked much better. Let it sit a few days, put in a patch some CLP, a patch some more CLP, another patch, total of three, let sit. Finally ran a bore brush through it, wet patched, came out dark grey, a few more patches, put in wet patch some CLP sprayed in the bore and another patch closer to the chamber and sprayed, let sit. Brushed it again, wet patched still coming out dark grey, must be lead fouling...? I'll keep at it every now and then. Anyway it appears to be post war as trigger and guard are blued and also a junior model (?) as the bbl is in the 20 inches long range. Transmission fluid and acetone is the best for removing rust. Google it!

I think the "rust" turned out to be lead fouling, the lead oxidation was crusty looking.
I don't have a bore light or scope, but the patches have not come out rusty looking, just dark grey after the brush passes?

Does sound like lead so you should keep at it with the brush I guess. If you get desperate mercury will dissolve lead.
