I just did my own tires this weekend.
The job kicked my ass!! Next time I'll be carrying in my wheels to a shop. This time, it was all about saving the money. If it didn't trash my back, I'd consider doing it again. I bought a set of Metzeler ME888's WWW from Dennis Kirk (best price I found), new tubes, and spoons. I broke the bead by using a pinch bar in my hitch receiver and a piece of 2x4. I used the backside of a tire/wheel assy. from my daughter's Jetta. I static balanced them on the bike. The tires didn't have any marking for where to align the valve stems. This accounted for me having to add over two ounces across from the valve stem on both front and rear. These tires were made in Brazil, despite what I have read.

What is it? I mean, I know it's a tire changer. But, name, model?

No-mar...
Bumper hitch mounted model. "F-150 not included." http://www.nomartirechanger.com/Jr_P...p/tc-jrpro.htm http://www.nomartirechanger.com/prod...c-hitchwht.htm Oh! you can buy the Jr with either floor or bumper mount... I've thought of using a large "C" clamp to break down the bead, has anyone tried that?

Mounted my own tires
I have done various skinny tires including the 130s on the Road King by using a 6" vise to break the beads.. HUGE pita on those!
Note that the vise damages the tires, so re-using them will mean using s different method. Lawnmower, trailer tires, are doable but MC tires have far far stiffer sidewalls . As soon as I found an Indy who does 'em for near nuthin' I swore off of the manual crap. BTW: a C-clamp wouldn't stand a chance. I had to use a cheater on the vise and nearly flipped the workbench over. C-clamp? Fugettaboutit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
