BTW, does how you light it really make a big difference in taste from start to finish of the cigar?
I mean, toasting without the flame touching, no drawing until it's toasted and lit, no Zippos, etc.?
I'm still in the experimenting stage here and wanna learn the right way so a $10 cigar doesn't end up tasting like a burning shop rag, should that be the case.

Personally and from my families experience
It's all bs for the most part
You'll get a taste a lighter fluid for example if you use a zippo. But once it's lit that Taste goes away
Get a cheap butane torch. Preferably with at least 2 flames and you'll be all set.
I buy some that are 3 or 4 bucks.
I just throw them out when they die.

As far as actually lighting the cigar.

Clip the cap

Put it in your mouth to wet it just a little do it's easy to turn
Put the tip of the flame to the edge and spin it until the whole end is lit.

And off you go.

My uncle smoked an average 6 churchills a day for most of his adult life.
He called the cigar posers that debated what to light a cigar with "come pingas"

I prefer to use stick matches to light mine AFTER it's burnt off the sulpher.

And I can taste the fuel when using a lighter after the first 1/2 inch.
