4/0 exterior doors are rare, and therefore not cheap. I could get you one, but I'd look ridiculous with it strapped to my back on the 'Train heading for the Manure Tour. If you've got a decent independent lumber yard nearby (not a Depot, Lowes, or 84; they're all dumbasses), they can order one for you. Shouldn't cost you more than $300~$350, and that's allowing them a decent margin.

A blank is all I'm really looking for, but apart from the steel $1200 door, everybody just tells me they don't have 'em, can't get 'em. Any ideas on a wholesaler?

Check with a local garage door company. See if they'll cut down a single car garage door.
Maybe not the best idea, but it's better than suggesting plywood.
