Injector change out question.
I have a question.
But first, a prelude..... I've been lookin' at the '06 Bagger service manual. The book says you have to pull the induction module in order to change the fuel injectors. Seems like a lot of work. Extra work. I'm thinking one can save some time by leaving the module in place, and only remove the fuel rail, disconnect the appropriate bits and then wiggle the injectors out. I know. I know. Easier said than done. But can it be done this way?

I'd like to.
But I... 16) Have to order parts. 16a) The right parts. 21g) Need to think about it more. 32x) Then wait for the parts to arrive. Which leads to.... 43f) Waiting to hear if anyone has tried it this way, so I know exactly what I'm gettin' myself into before I do any of the above.

I believe it can be done, but then again, I also believe that it's the same amount of work either way. Also, IIRC, wasn't 2006 the year they changed injectors from 8* to 25*? If you've got the 8* ones, you might want to change them.

and called me a few times to ask how it ran... and it did run very good, and cool... its a shame that it takes telling MOCO you almost got killed a few times, to have them do something...and do it fast...

Mine's an early production model, so it has the 8° injectors. I never had the stumble problem that others had. I'm currently using the PCIII as a tuner. I'm way past tired of messin' with it. My bike runs OK, but I know it has more potential. I want the engine to run more efficiently, especially at highway speeds. Only way to do that, in my opinion, is to be able to run closed loop, like the '07s and up. So, the plan is to install the MasterTune. Gonna install a set of true duals, with o2 sensor bungs, then install the sensors and wire 'em up to the ECM. Next I'll V-tune it and run that tune in it 'til I can afford to get the final tune tweaked on a dyno. I'm workin' with Smart Dave on all of this. But, for the MasterTune to do it's thang, I need to install the 25° injectors. Thus the reason for my question. I wanna have a plan formulated before I dig into it. It ain't a biggie. I just like to be prepared. I'm gonna do all the installation stuff here, at my house. Smart Dave is 800 miles away. Good thing he's a phone call away.

Didn't Sonic change out his injectors in the bike without removing things? Or was that some other piece of the puzzle between the cylinders and he ended up with having to put a new injector in. Seems it was early this season that he did that.

Finished readin' it about the time you posted the link, which has been duly bookmarked. Thank you for that! Ain't too keen about drainin' the tank, even though I have a handy dandy tank drainin' tool. Did I ever tell you about the time I busted the fuel rail side of the detachable fuel line? You know, that little snap-click plastic thingy that attaches to the fuel rail? Let me tell you, it helps to remove the line from the tank (quick coupler end) before you try to slide the tank back like, I don't know, sixoreight inches..... Unless you wanna wash yer motor with motor fuel...... The tank end coupler, along with ample hose (minus the busted hardware) makes for a neat tank drainin' tool. Only cost me like $45 for this specialized tool! Such a deal! Mebbe I can lift the tank far enough up to get in there. Had to lift it to change out the IAC. I shoulda paid better attention to the other fuel stuff at that time.... I will, however, remember to unhook the fuel line before doing so. A mechanic I ain't. Parts destroyer, tho, I'm tops!

This would be a good time to add a quick-disconnect to the crossover.

Every time I try to take a shortcut, I end up in a bad neighborhood. Then, after I shoot my way out, I find that the journey took me an extra hour or two anyway.
